My Pleasant Tour to Shimla

When we plan a visit to Hill stations, we have certain expectations like thick forests, peaks of mountains shining brightly, snow covered peaks, streams, rivers, varieties of trees etc. etc. Shimla is situated in the lower ranges of the Himalayan Mountains and is surrounded by pine deodar, oak and rhododendron forests. Snow covered high ranges are towards north of Shimla.

This time we visited Shimla with our Shimla honeymoon packages all inclusive. Yes, there’s so much to share and here are the insights:-

Tara Devi Tara Devi hill has a temple dedicated to Goddess of stars on the top of the hill. It is only 11 km from the Shimla Bus stand.

Christ Church This church is situated on The Ridge. It is the second oldest church in Northern India. It is worth seeing church as it has a very majestic appearance and inside there are stained glass windows. In winter, this church and its surrounded area gets covered with snow.

Summer Hill The Ridge is the lovely township of Summer hill, on Shimla Kalka Railway line. It is at the height of 6500 ft. This area is calm and quiet. Himachal Pradesh University is situated here.

Kufri It is at the distance of 16 km from Shimla at a height of 8600 ft. Kufri is the local winter sports centre. It also has a small zoo. This place is famous for its wide views and ski slopes. At Kufri you can enjoy the natural beauty and your stay becomes fruitful.

The Glen – It is a picnic spot just 4 km distance from Shimla. It is a thickly wood ravine through which a stream flows.  It is popular and worth visiting.

Annandale -  This place is at the distance of 4.5 km and is surrounded by thick deodar forest. There is an ancient temple also.

Thick forests, stream, calm and quiet place, shining peaks of Himalayas etc. are the lovely attractions of Shimla and the travelers love to visit them.

Tattapani – This place is famous for sulphur springs. There are many sulphur springs and it is believed that they have medical values.

Mashobra – is a beautiful suburb at the distance of 12 km at 2149 m. It is surrounded by thick forest. From here, a track leads down to Sipur which is an exquisite glade shaded by ancient deodar trees. Having many temples, a fair is held here.

The Ridge – It is a large open space in the heart of town. From here we can see the excellent view of mount ranges. The snow peaks shine like anything and they are worth seeing. In cities, we never can have such sights. Tudor Library building at the Ridge is also worth seeing.

State Museum -  It has the  collection of Himachal’s  rich heritage. Traditional art, craft, carvings, paintings and sculptures are displayed here, representing the heritage of Shimla.

When we visited Shimla, we were fully satisfied. The moments we enjoyed there, are still in our remembrance. The facilities and comforts which we enjoyed were marvelous. The tour organizers had organized the tour very nicely. All the spots were shown by them. Hotels, restaurants, travel buses etc. were superb. Shimla has been developed as one of the most popular hill resort.

Last but not the least, what we enjoyed is shopping. Shimla offers a variety of shopping. Varieties of woolen cloths, local art and craft items, are eye catching. There is a big shopping mall also.

Lovely natural beauty, winter sports, snowy slopes, views of snowy mountain peaks of Himalayas, thick forests, streams, different sightseeing places, hotel accommodation, the pleasant climate, made our journey the best and unforgettable.

Now a day, Shimla has become so popular that many a times it becomes over crowded but then also, it is worth visiting place.
